Your Chiropractic Care Phases
Phase 1 – Restoring Motion
The first phase of your care focuses on improving spinal motion in areas that are restricted, misaligned, or not functioning correctly. Your Chiropractor will identify these regions during your initial assessment and create a tailored treatment plan designed to target and improve them.
This plan typically includes regular in-clinic chiropractic adjustments, supported by specific home-based stretches to help maintain and promote joint mobility between visits. Our goal in this phase is to reduce pain, restore motion, and get your spine moving optimally again.
Most patients remain in this phase for 4 to 8 weeks, with adjustments scheduled 1 to 3 times per week based on your unique needs. The frequency and duration of care are always personalised according to how your body responds and what your Chiropractor recommends clinically.
Phase 2 – Strengthening and Stabilising
As joint function improves and symptoms subside, your care progresses into the second phase. Here, we focus on rebuilding strength, improving posture, and enhancing spinal stability — especially in the areas previously most affected.
In addition to your chiropractic care, you’ll be guided through targeted strengthening exercises aimed at supporting spinal alignment and increasing muscular endurance. These exercises help minimise the risk of recurrence and improve long-term outcomes.
This phase typically spans another 4 to 8 weeks, with appointments approximately once per week. The pace is again based on your individual progress and goals — ensuring that your care remains completely patient-centred.
Phase 3 – Wellness and Maintenance
By this point, most patients experience noticeable relief, increased mobility, and greater overall wellbeing. From here, your journey continues based on what’s most important to you:
- Discharge: Some patients feel they’ve achieved their health goals and are ready to transition to independent management. Your Chiropractor will provide tailored advice on ongoing home care, including stretches and ergonomic recommendations.
- Maintenance Care: Many patients — especially those with prior injuries, chronic stress, or early signs of spinal wear — opt to continue care on a less frequent basis. These periodic adjustments can help maintain spinal health, reduce the likelihood of setbacks, and support your active lifestyle long-term.
At the end of this phase, your Chiropractor will review your progress and outline your options, empowering you to choose the best path forward for your health and wellbeing.
